Modalities

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neuro-physiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of challenging symptoms. It identifies activated eye positions designated as Brainspots which correspond with the issue of disturbance. I have found it extremely effective with chronic physical conditions as well as emotional issues.

Core Energetics
is a body-centered psychotherapy working with energy and consciousness. The person is given various physical exercises and breathing processes to help release the mental, emotional, physical and/or spiritual disturbances. They work closely with the therapist to understand and re-pattern themselves both physically and mentally.

EMDR
is a process using a set of protocols that incorporate elements of other treatment modalities. It works with rapid eye movement much like REM sleep. Memories, feelings and patterns of behavior associated with a trauma or dramatic event have lasting negative effects on the way a person sees the world and relates to themselves and others. Through the process these negative patterns can be released on a physiological level. The EMDR seems to have a direct effect on the brain function so that normal information processing can be resumed. Images, sounds and feelings are no longer relived when the event(s) is brought to mind. They become more like a distant memory without strong feelings attached.

Bioenergetics
is a body-oriented psychotherapy pioneered by Dr. Alexander Lowen and Dr. John Pierrakos. For nearly three decades I myself worked intensely with Dr. Pierrakos as a student and a colleague. In my practice I use both Bioenergetics to help clients express their feelings through various mind/body exercises in order to re-establish energy flow in their body.
